My experience with learning poker through the limits has been this:
at every level, you
learn something new
At first, you don't 5️⃣ know why it works... but you do know THAT it
works. For example, how much to value bet.
Then you start 5️⃣ to realize other people at
that level are using that trick and how to exploit it... why it's working, how 5️⃣ it
works... the math behind it... and just every little thing.
When you see some guy
floating another guy on 2 5️⃣ streets and then shoving his entire stack on the river... why
is he doing that? Did some kinda random draw 5️⃣ come in and he's hoping for a call? Is the
first guy really aggressive, does he have a low showdown 5️⃣ percent? Is it some kind of
combination of all of the above?
Is his bet when lead turn % 85?
What do 5️⃣ those #'s even
mean at that limit?
Pretty much, high-stakes pros aren't high stakes pros because they
know fancy moves. They're 5️⃣ pros because they understand those "fancy" moves. FOR THE
MOST PART I think even high stakes pros value just solid 5️⃣ steady play. For them, the
more simple they can keep their actions the more eV their actions are.
That being said,
5️⃣ their simple actions are very complex... but things like 4-bet shoving loose 3-bettors
with ATC is a very valueable play. 5️⃣ These plays work because they understand that their
opponents see the stats they have... that they can't put them on 5️⃣ a bluff and because
the chance that the 3-bettor has a bad hand is a very likely.
If for some reason,
5️⃣ people @100NL don't like folding to their 4-bet shoves when they have low suited
connectors... they're going to figure this 5️⃣ out and say "well, there's no point in
4-betting this guy because he's going to call with his JTos and 5️⃣ be a favorite." The
other thing you need to realize if that's the case is that they're just going to 5️⃣ play
their huge hands for stacks... why not just dump in 100bb against some laggrotard with
AQos? If he's going 5️⃣ to 3-bet you with JTos... then why not stick it in?
There are so
many dynamics of poker that average players 5️⃣ don't realize... it's insane. The best clue
I can give you is to look at every stat available in hold'em 5️⃣ manager and realize that
ALL OF THEM have a purpose.
