Kasper Schmeichel could be on his way out of Nice less than a year after joining from
Leicester, according to a new report which claims the goalkeeper is causing friction at
the club.
The 36-year-old Danish shot-stopper joined Nice in August 2024 after ending
his successful spell with Leicester, where he claimed the Premier League title and FA
Cup.
But Schmeichel's adaption to life in France has not been straightforward, and it
is now believed that some of his new team-mates are growing annoyed by his
methods.
L'Equipe claim his 'a la carte' training schedule, coupled with a lack of
leadership, are raising tensions at the club in France's south-east
region.
Schmeichel's career allows him to manage himself, like he did at Leicester
previously, and he prefers solitary work to being part of the team training
sessions.

This freedom tends to annoy some other players at Nice, who
believe that he has pushed it too far and that he fails to motivate the group despite
his extensive prior experience in the game.
Nice sit ninth in Ligue 1 this season and
have nothing left to play for. Despite this, Schmeichel has been between the sticks for
the team with the second-best defensive record in the French top flight, behind
Lens.
No 2 goalkeeper Marcin Bulka has been absent since injuring his shoulder at the
end of October. But the relationship between the pair has fractured, and one will not
stay beyond the end of the current campaign.
Whether this is a loan move for Polish
goalkeeper Bulka, or an early exit for Schmeichel, remains to be seen. The Dane's
contract with Nice runs for another two years.
Ineos boss Jim Ratcliffe, in charge of
running Nice, is personally friends with Peter Schmeichel, the former Manchester United
goalkeeper who is Kasper's father.
Ratcliffe, second on The Sunday Times Rich List, is
currently in the process of trying to buy Man United.
Nice played out a scoreless draw
with Toulouse on Sunday. The final two games of their Ligue 1 campaign are a trip to
Montpellier on Saturday and a home fixture against Lyon on June 3.
