This article is for those players who are planning to use a HUD software or already
using one. If you 🍉 are a casual player who is planning to upgrade your poker skills, we
suggest you to learn about these underrated 🍉 Poker HUD stats – WTSD and W$SD.
WTSD and
W$TD are the most important stats to consider on the river. These 🍉 stats help you to
decide whether the villain (opponent) is going to the showdown and if he is going to
🍉 the showdown, what are the chances of him to win the pot. So, without any further
delay, let’s dive into 🍉 these vital stats.
What is a WTSD Poker HUD Stats?
WTSD stands
for Went To ShowDown. It will show you at what 🍉 percentage does a player go to
showdowns. If a player’s WTSD is high, he is more likely to go to 🍉 showdowns. And if his
stats are low, he is less likely to go to showdowns.
What are Good WTSD HUD
Stats?
There 🍉 are no fixed, ideal WTSD poker stats; it depends a lot on your playing
style. 6-max games will have slightly 🍉 higher stats than full ring games. However, you
can assume that anything between 25% and 35% is an ideal WTSD 🍉 statistics.
Less than
25%: Players with less than 25% WTSD poker stats suggest that they don’t go to
showdowns quite often. 🍉 And, when they do, they go to showdowns with only good hands or
when they connect with the board. As 🍉 these players go to showdowns less often, you can
raise and force them to fold on the Turn or River.
25% 🍉 to 35%: You should aim for such
stats. It will make you less exploitable. Always remember that if you are 🍉 using a HUD
on your opponents, your opponents can also have a HUD on you! So, you need to maintain
🍉 steady WTSD poker stats for yourself so that your opponents don’t exploit you.
More
than 35%: These players often go to 🍉 the showdown and are likely to be calling stations
or maniacs. Hence, you should be going to showdowns with such 🍉 players only when you
have the best hand. Your hand has to be stronger than theirs, and you should be 🍉 value
betting more often.
What is a W$SD Poker HUD Stats?
W$SD stands for WonR$ at ShowDown
or Won Money at Showdown. 🍉 It will show you at what percentage does a player win the
pots at showdowns. However, it does not show 🍉 how much money a player wins at
showdowns.
What are Good W$SD Poker HUD Stats?
If a player’s W$SD is high, he 🍉 is more
likely to be a skilled/winning player. And if his stats are low, he is more of a losing
🍉 player. An ideal W$SD would be somewhere between 45% and 55%. Tight players usually
have higher W$SD stats than loose 🍉 players.
Less than 45%: Players with a lower W$SD
stats go to showdown with weak poker hands and lose more pots.
More 🍉 than 55%: Players
with higher W$SD stats go to the showdown with strong hands and win more pots.
How to
Use 🍉 Both WTSD and W$SD for a Better Analysis?
The best way to get an accurate analysis
is to compare both WTSD 🍉 and W$SD stats. Both the stats are inversely correlated. High
WTSD usually results in low W$SD and low WTSD results 🍉 in high W$SD.
High WTSD means
that a player goes to showdowns more often with a wide range of hands and 🍉 ends up
losing more pots at showdowns. Hence, he has low W$SD stats.
On the other hand, low
WTSD poker stats 🍉 mean that a player seldom goes to showdowns. And, when he does go to
showdowns, he goes with a strong 🍉 hand and wins more pots. Hence, he has high W$SD
stats.
For a reliable read, you need to have data of 🍉 over 500 hands on your
opponent.
Let’s Do Some Exercises
You are holding 9♥ 9♠ and raise to 3X Big Blind (bb)
🍉 from middle position. The button calls and everyone else folds. The flop comes 3♣ T♥
5♠. You have the second 🍉 top pair and decide to c-bet 3X bb. The villain calls.
The
board reads 3♣ T♥ 5♠ J♦ on the turn. 🍉 You decide to check, and the villain also
checks.
The board reads 3♣ T♥ 5♠ J♦ 9♣ on the river, which 🍉 gives you a Three of a Kind.
You bet half the pot but the villain raises twice your bet size.
What 🍉 will you do in
the same situation against two different types of players?
Player A: VPIP = 18/ PFR =
11/ 🍉 WTSD = 22/ W$SD = 67
Player A is definitely a tight-aggressive player who seems to
be having a stronger range. 🍉 He could be holding 78 or KQ and has hit a straight, or he
could be bluffing. Now, is he 🍉 bluffing?
This is where WTSD and W$SD stats help you the
most! If we look at his WTSD and W$SD, you 🍉 can see that he seldom goes to showdowns but
when he does, he wins more pots. He doesn’t seem to 🍉 a player who bluffs on the river.
Hence, it is better to fold even with your set.
Player B: VPIP = 🍉 42/ PFR = 36/ WTSD =
47/ W$SD = 29
Player B is a loose-aggressive player who enters the pot with 🍉 a wide
range of hands. Since he called your preflop raise, you can expect him not to have a
very 🍉 strong range. Loose-aggressive players tend to bet when they connect with the
board.
When he raised you on the river, you 🍉 need to analyse his WTSD and W$SD poker
stats. He seems to be going to showdowns more often and losing 🍉 more pots. As he raised
on the river, it looks more like a classic bluff. So, you can call here 🍉 for a higher
probability of catching his bluff.
