How PokerTracker 4 works
Before we delve into an overview of the features and a
description of PT4 and show how to use the software, it's necessary to say a few words
about how this tracker works.
Data on all actions at each poker table is saved by the
poker room in the form of a file that can be uploaded to PokerTracker 4. It's called
"hand history." Usually, this is a *.txt file, which indicates when and at what table
the hand was played, who took part in it, each player's stack, all the actions per
street, the final pot, and the winner.
Hand history contains comprehensive information
about each hand. After downloading this file, the tracker, based on such data,
calculates various statistical indicators of the game. Among them are VPIP, PFR, 3-bet,
Aggression Factor %, and many, many others — dozens of main and hundreds of auxiliary
indicators.
PokerTracker 4 runs in the background and automatically downloads hand
history files. Immediately after the end of the session, you can start studying the
results. But what if you want to view statistics on your opponent right during the game
in real-time? Open the tracker, enter the nickname of the player? This is too
inconvenient! To solve this problem, a unique tool was created — Heads Up Display, or
HUD.
HUD pulls statistical data about a particular player's game from the database and
displays it conveniently right next to his nickname.
The value of this tool is
difficult to overestimate. During the session, with a quick glance at the HUD
indicators, you can almost instantly understand who you are playing against. The
decision-making process is greatly simplified, meaning you can play more hands per hour
without losing winrate.
Poker Tracker 4 features
Reports
The Poker Tracker interface
contains almost everything you need to analyze your game using various reports and
filters. In this regard, PT4 is far ahead of its competitors.
All the built-in reports
in the "Results" and "Statistics" sections can be reworked to display the required
statistics. And in the "My Reports" section, you can create, export, or import your
report.
For example, if you want to add additional stats to the "Final hands at
Showdown" report, right-click in the reports field, select "Configure report," and
customize for yourself.
Standard reports include:
Results tab:
Overview — hands grouped
by stakes, positions, sessions, and date.
All-in Equity Adjusted — information on
all-in EV.
Summary — a summary report that can be further grouped by stakes, games,
positions, sessions, and starting hands.
Calendar — by day, month.
Money Flow Chart —
shows how winnings are distributed among the players.
Player Summary — statistics of
all players in the database.
Statistics tab:
Facing Preflop action — report on action
situations before your turn.
Holdem Hand Range Visualizer — hand heat map. For example,
you can see with which hands you call 3bets out of position and the result. Any filter
can be applied to this report.
Charts
The most essential report for any player, where
you can see the results with a line graph.
Filters
By applying filters to any of the
reports, you can dissect any situation into separate elements. Standard filters are
located on the left side and include games, time, stakes, sessions, positions,
etc.
PokerTracker4 allows you to create or import your own filters of any
complexity.
For example, breaking the game in position in a 3-bet pot into situations
when the opponent places a continuation bet and when he checks. Or select only the
spots where after the blinds, the flop comes without an ace.
To do this, click the
"More filters" button and set any parameters.
PokerTracker 4 HUD
HUD (Heads-Up Display)
is a tool for displaying statistics on your opponents in real-time at the
table.
Technically, any available indicators can be shown in the HUD: VPIP, PFR, WTSD,
and other stats.
Let's highlight the main features of PT4 HUD:
The ability to switch
between the overall statistics of your database and the current stats on the opponent
at the table during the game allows you to track the game dynamics more
effectively.
Folded hands are automatically displayed with equity per street.
HUD Tag
feature allows you to tag and instantly view your hands while playing
Another helpful
feature is Lower Opacity Until Mouse Over. This appeals to those players whose HUDs are
packed with several statistics.
Profile editor
The statistics displayed in the Heads Up
Display can be fully customized using a special editor. If you are experiencing
difficulties with creating a HUD, you can use the standard profiles provided by the
developers.
Each element in the HUD has several properties that can be edited as you
wish:
The number of times a player has taken a certain action;
Adding a prefix/suffix
to stats (valuable when you add new stats to your HUD);
Change the font, color, and
background of the HUD (to highlight vital statistics).
HUD and pop-up customization has
always been problematic in tracking tools, but the developers of Poker Tracker 4 have
solved this problem by adding a friendly drag and drop function. This makes it much
easier to add stats in your HUD.
Adding custom statistics
You can add new stats by
downloading from the website (download custom statistics). Or create the desired stat
by yourself. However, this is not easy, and we won't cover this topic in this
introductory review.
Anyway, it's crucial that you clearly understand how to correctly
interpret particular statistics since this will determine the efficiency of using
HUD.
HUD scaling
The statistics displayed during the game will always remain clear and
orderly thanks to the vector scaling technology. When the table is resized, the test
changes proportionally, using a special graphics rendering engine.
Unique Poker Tracker
4 apps
Leak Tracker
The integrated Leak Tracker tool in PT4 allows you to find
potential leaks in the game by comparing your statistics with the winning players.
How
it works:
Go to the LeakTracker tab and select the Leak Analysis report from the
"Reports" drop-down menu on the left side of the window. Choose the game format, stake,
and table size. Click "Run."
LeakTracker will compare your statistics (or the stats of
the selected player as active) with the database of winning players. The results will
be presented by a black line on the horizontal graph of each statistic, where "Green"
means good, "Light gray" — needs improvement, "Dark gray" - a potential problem.
Luck
chart
This report shows how lucky or unlucky you are with certain hands and draws. The
tool will appeal to those who complain about their results at the tables.
How useful is
it? That's an open question.
NoteTracker — creating notes
PokerTrackers helps you
avoiding "playing in the dark" with the NoteTracker and Table Session Stats
features.
The automatic note creation tool is integrated into the HUD notes for each
player at your table. Each note will use a template that you can customize according to
your needs.
ICM tools
The ICM (Independent Chip Model) calculation and simulation tool
is integrated into PokerTracker. It's a game model that allows you to find optimal
solutions in tournaments at various stages.
Equity calculator
Of course, the built-in
equity calculator can not replace Flopzilla, but it's enough to run basic calculations.
For example, you can quickly determine the equity of your hand against the expected
range of the villain.
he calculator can be launched directly from the hand replayer.
The fields will be automatically filled with your cards, flop, etc. If the opponent's
hand is unknown, a random range (that can be adjusted) will be set.
Supported poker
rooms
Poker Tracker 4 works in all major networks and poker rooms:
