Today, Lawman Guitars is Presenting…
A really cool and hardly ever seen Black Jack Model HF-61 Made in Japan Acoustic Guitar. I have seen and sold lots of Black Jack Electric Guitars but this is the first acoustic I have ever seen or had in the shop.
Heres some info on the Importer of cool Black Jack Guitars…
Harris-Fandel Co. was formed in 1937 by two ex-employees of Vega Guitars-Mike Harris and Burt Fandel, who resided in Boston, MA.
In the 1960s Harris-Fandel would distribute the popular Kent brand of guitar amplifiers.
Harris-Fandel was one of the large wholesalers back in the day. Located in Boston, MA, the company served the large part of New England with many guitar brands including Kay, Danelectro, and Supro. The company’s president was a pleasant looking fellow named Merty Harris, and these Black Jack guitars probably represented the lower end of his guitar line. Made and manufactured at the famous Matsumoku factory.
The guitar is in very good shape and is all original. It was played quite a bit as it has some finger divots in the top 3 frets. We cleaned it up and set it up with a new set of light guage Phosphorus Bronze strings. It plays very nicely. Only malady I could find is there is some stress cracks in the bridge pin area..see pic 3…no concern. Its been that way a long time. And one screw was replace on one of the tuners. The tuners are quite fancy. Check those pics!
Weighs just 4 lbs, has a 1 ¾ inch nut for great finger picking… Nice laminated Spruce top and I am unsure what materials the back and sides are made of. Nice warm red color that looks really cool. Truss rod works and its quite a guitar for not only a beginner but a seasoned strummer looking for a camp fire guitar. Sounds really nice and quite loud. 15 inch lower bout and 40 ½ inches in total length.
Sorry, no case with this one but I pack daily. I will insure your guitar gets to you in a way that you will like!
Its cool but used and vintage so its sold as-is no returns. However, I have been hand picking my customers instruments for close to 20 years now and they all have loved the guitars I found for them. This cool Made in Japan Black Jack will certainly not be an exception.
Thanks for checking out our cool guitars.
