Applause rang around Anfield from
both sets of fans in the seventh minute and the home faithful chanted 'You'll Never
Walk Alone'.
Reacting on Thursday, the 37-year-old said on Instagram: "Me and my family
will never forget this moment of respect and compassion.
"One world… One sport… One
global family… Thanks, Anfield."
Speaking after the match, Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp
described the tribute as his 'moment of the match'.
The German said: “Pure class in the
moment where everyone knows since yesterday so many things are much more important in
life. That was my moment of the game.”
Ronaldo and his partner Georgina Rodriguez were
expecting twins - and took solace from the birth of their daughter.
2 A statement was
released by the couple on Monday
“It is with our deepest sadness we have to announce
that our baby boy has passed away,” the couple’s emotional statement read.
“It is the
greatest pain that any parent can feel.
“Only the birth of our baby girl gives us the
strength to live this moment with some hope and happiness.
“We would like to thank the
doctors and nurses for all their expert care and support. We are all devastated at this
loss and we kindly ask for privacy at this very difficult time.
“Our baby boy, you are
our angel. We will always love you.”
