Event #6 at the 2024 World Series of Poker Europe, €5,000 Pot-Limit Omaha, found a
second player from Hong Kong, 💹 Wing Po Liu, capturing his debut WSOP bracelet in this
series. Liu topped Event #2 winner and 2024 WSOP Europe 💹 Main Event champion Omar Eljach
to capture the PLO title on Wednesday at the home of WSOP Europe, Kings Casino 💹 in
Rozvadov, Czech Republic.
Liu joined Event #3 winner Hokyiu Lee as a new
bracelet-winner hailing from Hong Kong, and Liu 💹 became just the sixth player from that
jurisdiction to claim WSOP bracelet gold. Liu currently resides in the United Kingdom,
💹 and his triumph in the €5K PLO tourney was worth €230,000 (about USR$246,800), making
it the largest live cash of 💹 his tournament career.
The big payday also marked Liu’s
first major win, and it followed his third-place finish last summer in 💹 aR$3K six-handed
NLH event at the WSOP in Las Vegas. In topping Eljach, Liu also denied Sweden’s Eljach
a possible 💹 third career WSOP bracelet.
Liu tops 118 other players for €5K PLO
triumph
The €5K PLO event offered one of the smaller 💹 fields of the 2024 WSOP to date,
as 119 unique players also contributed 83 re-entries. The 202 combined total entries
💹 generated a €911,525 prize pool. The top 31 finishers cashed in the event.
Liu reached
the final table with a middling 💹 stack, but he doubled through early leader Gergo Nagy
to climb the leaderboard. After Eljach busted Anson Tsang in fourth 💹 (€68,850) and Liu
ousted Kasparas Klezys in third (€97,600), a brief duel between the two ensued. Eljach
took an early 💹 lead before Liu took down a big pot, then finished off Eljach to claim
the bracelet. Eljach earned €141,800 in 💹 his third deep run of the series.
