Magnus Carlsen talked about choosing poker over chess after making it to Day 2 of the
Norwegian Poker Championship on 😗 Wednesday.
While Ian Nepomniachtchi and Ding Liren
prepare to begin their battle for the World Championship, Magnus Carlsen is currently
in 😗 Bratislava playing the Norwegian Poker Championship.
The 32-year-old is in the
Slovakian capital due to Norway's strict gambling laws. Last year, 😗 in Dublin, Carlsen
made headlines as he finished in an impressive 25th place out of 1,050 players, earning
a cash 😗 prize of around 5,000 Euro.
Before the event today he posted a picture on his
Instagram account: "Norwegian poker championship > 😗 World Chess Championship".
Speaking
to the official broadcast after Day 1, Carlsen jokingly confirmed that he prefers poker
over chess.

Yeah, but
it does say something about me not liking the World Chess Championship.
Carlsen went
through 😗 to Day 2, but dropped down the rankings in the last hours of the day.
"It went
a bit astray the 😗 last half an hour. A lot of strange things happened. Let's try again
tomorrow," said Carlsen. He's left with 47,500 😗 chips after starting on 100,000.
Asked
if he thinks it's fun, he replied to the official Youtube broadcast.
Yeah, it's fine.
It's 😗 a bit tiring. I was sitting here for an hour or an hour and a half and I didn't
win 😗 a single hand. I just folded and folded. That's not very exciting, but when
something happens, it's fun.
Carlsen is one 😗 of 435 players who made it to Day 2 from
the 1B field in the Main Event, out of 680 😗 players starting. With players from 1A
joining on Thursday, 550 players are currently competing.
